Character Character #10

These are two pictures that I made completely out of letters. I made this in my Web Design class. I was actually very intrigued by how much pictures you can make, just completely out of words. The two pcitures I made are up above.

Typography #9

In Web Design class, I created a typography with all the fonts that I could probably put in. There might have been a few typography keys missing to this, but in the end, I did what I can to try to include it all. I believe this was a little challenging but easy in the end. The creation that I tried to do is on the left.

Facebook #8

I am aware of the agreements Facebook made in terms of their privacy settings. I think that the groups who sued their Facebook privacy settings have made a good decision, but I don't think it was a correct decision at the correct time. Sure they wanted to try to fix the privacy settings, but I think time was also important in determining when privacy needs to be addressed. I don't have a particular side on the matter, because I don't have a lot of information on the matter, but a resolution will need to be addressed if the issue is going to die away. The privacy matters will be a big concern not only to these groups but to the world.

Semantic Web # 7

The semantic web is primarily focused on machines. While Web 2.0 is mainly operated and controlled by a human being, the semantic web is controlled and operated by machines. These computer systems perform the tasks that find and search information. It is presented in a way that a computer can understand what is going on. The semantic web is not separate from the World Wide Web. Rather, it is an extension of it, by that it adds data and metadata to other existing Web page documents. Not a lot of companies and peoples use the semantic web yet. Twine is one company that uses Semantic Web technologies, as well as Joost, an online television service. Semantic Web uses the RDF (Resource Description Framework) to change Web data so that software can easily read it. So semantic web does have advantages, because people might need something for computers to translate for them, and the semantic web is the easiest way to do that.

Copyright #6

In the Constitution, copyright was included as a way to protect people from theft and influence them to promote creativity and enlightenment as the country progressed. At the beginning, copyright was not a restricted right. But as more and more people started creating their own pieces of work, copyright became more and more restricted. This was influenced by Thomas Jefferson, who believed copyright could bring creativity to the United States. There have been several shifts in how copyrighted work is used. For example, if an author has been dead for more than 70 years, then work could be used with special permission from a person or source. Most works, including some outside the United States, have this special privilege. However, some big name authors who have been dead for more than 70 years, follow the same basic rules as those who have been dead for less than 70 years. Overall, copyright is a basic way to protect the people who have created works from theft and allow the people to boost their own creativity and uniqueness, as Thomas Jefferson proposed when the Constitution was created.
